The Nashville City Council met last night and discussed transferring more money into the K-9 Fund.  The new dog needs to go through the K-9 Academy and be certified by the state of Illinois.  They had moved $1,500 into the fund earlier in the year, as it was going to cost near that for the academy in Belleville, but now they cannot get into that one.  The closest is in Indiana and it costs approximately $1,000 per week for 3 weeks, plus any accommodations.  Therefore, the Council approved of moving $5,500 into the K-9 Fund, which will also cover food, supplies and other expenses.  The Council approved of allowing the Street Department to hire a full-time person to work during the summer only, while they approved of allowing the Gas Department to hire two full-time workers during the summer only.  In April, the Council approved to purchase a new pick-up truck for the Street Department and it has come in, but it needs a camper shell.  The Council approved the bid from Lear for $1,975 for the shell and the installation on the truck.  It was reported that the shingles and trim on a couple of buildings at the Covington water – sewer area, as well as at the reservoir in Nashville, are in need of repair.  The Council approved of the bid from Batson Construction in the amount of $4,399.50 to fix these 3 buildings with metal roofing.  The Council also approved of a $100 donation to sponsor a hole at the Ladies Golf League Tournament.  It was reported that the yearly audit will be done in the middle of June.  The bulk of the time was again spent on going through some ordinances that needed some clarification, as the City Book is being revised and updated.  They found some ordinances that Attorney Bill DeMoss will need to go over and fix, as well as some were so outdated, that they were just repealed.  They will address this issue at the next Council meeting.
