The Nashville Public Library will have their Summer Reading Program from June 10th through July 15th.  The theme is “Read to the Rhythm” and will feature entertainment and crafts, as well as plenty of rewards for those completing the program.  There are sessions on Wednesdays for children kindergarten through 2nd grade from 10 to 11 AM or 1 to 2 PM.  There is also a session on Thursdays from 1 to 2 PM for children in grades 3 through 6.  Library Director Linda Summers says it will kick off on June 10th with a party.  It is at the Nashville Community Center so they have plenty of room, as the family of each reader is encouraged to come.  There will be entertainment, including Leonardo with his guitar, as he presents his “Rockin’ & Reading” show.  She says it is a high energy program and she hopes this gives the children a little boost to read during the summer.  They also hand out their book bags that they would like the children to keep their library materials in, which consists of their book log, a pencil and a bookmark.  The bag allows them to keep everything together and they should bring this each week to the library.  There will also be refreshments at this party.  There is also a wrap up party on July 15th says Summers.  This will feature WildHeart, a high energy group, doing a lot with audience participation, getting the kids up there with singing and dancing.  Again, this is for the whole family at the Nashville Community Center and there will be refreshments.  For the readers, there are award certificates and prizes for those completing the program.  Volunteers in grades 7 through 12 are also needed to help with the Wednesdays and Thursdays, as there will be crafts and activities, as well as keeping track of the readers progress each week.  For more information on this free program, call the Nashville Public Library at 327-3827.  Be sure to listen to the Magazine on the V this Sunday at 8 AM for the full interview with Linda Summers on the Summer Reading Program and other topics of the library.
