The Nashville Police Department responded to some accidents and made some arrests this past week.  On Monday afternoon, there was an accident on South Mill Street at East Saint Louis Street, as a pickup truck driven by 24-year old Roy J. Graff of Pinckneyville struck the back of a vehicle driven by 44-year old Allen T. Kujawa of Granite City, which was stopped at a red light.  There is no mention of any injuries or citations issued.  On Tuesday in the late afternoon, there was an accident on Route 127 in front of Diedrich Implements, as a Jeep driven by a 17-year old male from Nashville did not stop in time and struck the back of a pickup truck driven by 39-year old Jason R. Tolley of Carlyle, which was slowing down in traffic.  No injuries were reported and no citations were issued.  Late Thursday morning, there was a hit and run on the Kroger parking lot, as a vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle, as the owner was in the store.  On Friday, they assisted the Illinois State Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department with an accident on Interstate 64 and then on Sunday afternoon, they went to assist a motorist and a foot chase ensued.  According to the report, officers responded to the LN Shell Station on Route 127 near the interstate, but upon arrival, discovered the car was stolen.  They made contact with 46-year old Irvin Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, the driver of the vehicle.  He then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended and taken into custody.  He was put into jail for Motor Vehicle Theft, Resisting a Peace Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Unlawful Possession of Stolen Property and Unlawful Display of Registration.
