The West Washington County Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education met Monday night, as they did not have enough members to conduct business last Thursday night.  Superintendent Scott Fuhrhop says the Amended Budget was presented and then later approved of by the Board in the regular meeting.  He says it was down a little by approximately $27,000, as they also did not receive all of their state aid for the school year.  Fuhrhop says the Board approved of the purchase of a some lawn equipment from Okawville Equipment in the amount of $12,050 with S.T.E.P. grant funds.  This stands for Student Transition Education Program.  Basically they have a group of students that get trained for jobs later on in life, so the Board purchased a lawn mower for them and they will be doing some mowing, weed eating and stuff like that for the school.  They discussed what to do with the old concession stand.  They will meet with the city on where they can put it.  There have been some complaints, so they will move it someplace else.  They increased the amount of money they will pay officials, mainly for basketball and baseball games, by $5 to stay competitive.  In Fuhrhop’s report, he told the Board that they now have a lawyer and will go after the bond money until the flooring in the school has been fixed by SCI, the project contractor.  The floor has had problems in various areas since it was installed.  He also talked about some of the training the teachers have been going through this summer already.  Okawville Grade School will have an Early Childhood Program this school year and already have 6 students registered.  They can have 10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon.  The Board hired Darci Hesker of Okawville for that program.  The greenhouse has come in and they will get that set up before the students return.  They already have put in electricity to the location.
