The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was busy in the past week. They responded to 3 accidents and assisted 3 motorists. One week ago, they responded to an accident as a vehicle driven by James Cunningham of Tilden hit a deer. There was no mention of any injuries or citations. On Friday, there was an accident on County Highway 16, near Ford Road, south of Oakdale, as 29-year old Anthony J. Fitzpatrick of Mount Vernon lost control of his vehicle and it struck the ditch. There were no injuries and no report of any citations issued. The final accident was on Sunday on Interstate 64, as a vehicle operated by 64-year old Billy D. Johnson of Utica, Kansas, struck a deer.
