The Kaskaskia College Theatre Guild will be performing “Arsenic and Old Lace” in the Jane Knight Auditorium November 20th through the 22nd. Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring is the dark comedy play that was made popular by the 1944 Frank Capra movie starring Cary Grant. The story revolves around the Brewster family – Mortimer, the drama critic, his brother Jonathan that looks like Boris Karloff, and his brother Teddy who thinks he is Theodore Roosevelt, and their two seemingly sweet aunts, Abby and Martha. Arsenic and Old Lace will have a free special matinee performance for any interested high school groups on Thursday, November 19th at 9:30 AM. Contact Professor David Quinn for reservations for the special performance by emailing dquinn@kaskaskia.edu. The play will also be performed in the Jane Knight Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, November 20th and 21st at 7 PM, and on Sunday, November 22nd at 2 PM. All performances are free and no reservations are needed. Included in the cast is Alison Bauza of Oakdale, Keneesha Sutt and Jacob Wacker, both of Hoyleton.
