Fire marshals throughout the states says this weekend’s time-change is a good time for everyone to change their smoke alarms’ batteries. Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 AM Sunday, when people are supposed to turn their clocks back one hour.  They should also use that occasion to put fresh batteries in their smoke alarms now that winter is near, as working smoke alarms are proven life-savers that provide precious time for people to escape fires.  They recommend that homes and apartments should have at least one working smoke detector, preferably near sleeping areas.  Multi-level homes should have at least one smoke detector on each floor.
