A southwestern Illinois man accused of driving drunk in a crash that left a 27-year old dead has received at least 40 traffic citations that don’t appear on his driving record. 38-year old Steven Willis of Maryville faces two counts of aggravated DUI for an October 23rd crash that killed Samantha Miller of Swansea as she waited with her three children along Interstate 55 when their car broke down. The Belleville News-Democrat reports that 25 of the 40 citations Willis received in Madison and Saint Clair counties since 1994 involved speeding. He was sentenced to court supervision 30 times and convicted twice for seat belt violations. Charges were dismissed eight times. Willis is free on bond and due in court Friday.
