The Nashville Chamber of Commerce had their General Membership meeting yesterday and it was announced that there is a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 this morning at Russell Cellular on south Route 127. Everyone is invited to show up to support this local business. There will be another ribbon cutting ceremony on November 30th at 4:30 PM at Nashville Fitness. The Chamber Christmas party will be on December 3rd at Buretta’s beginning at 5:30 PM. Board member Letisha Luecking Orlet talked about Santa Saturday, which is coming up on November 28th at the newly renovated L & N Train Depot, done by the Historical Society, as they have invited the Chamber to use the building this year, as the area in front of the Washington County Courthouse is under renovation. Plans are still being put together, but Santa will make his arrival by special transportation and will talk with children from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. Rachel Kreid will be taking photographs of the children with Santa. The Moose and Fraternal Order of Police will go together and provide each child with a movie pass, which includes a popcorn and soda. The children will also receive a candy cane. Director Doris Povolish talked about the Shop Southern Illinois program, which the Nashville Chamber is a part of. There is a website where shoppers can log onto and pledge that they will do some holiday shopping with local vendors and businesses. They are then entered into several drawings through the end of the year for various prizes. Nashville will have a gift basket with various items and gift certificates from local businesses that can be won. The website is www.shopsouthernillinois.com. Moonlight Madness wrapped up last Friday and it seemed to be successful. There were five winners of $100 in Nashville Dollars and that includes Daniel Schmidt, Tabitha Wesseln, Gloria Bathon, Tillman Temple and Christy Schmidt.
