The Nashville Grade School Board of Education met last week and they went over the 2014-2015 School Report Card for the Grade School. It showed that there were 549 students with an average class size of 21 students, some statistics as last year. The school had an attendance rate of 96 percent, while the State rate is at 95 percent. It was 97 percent last year. The percentage of students at the school that met or exceeded the standards of the state testing were not available yet, as it was the PARCC test and no longer the ISAT. 41 percent of the students attending are from low income families, which is significantly higher than the 34 percent being from low income last year. 4 percent are homeless, slightly higher than last year also. 15 percent of the students at NGS have disabilities and that is lower than the 18 percent last year. It costs more to educate a student at NGS than last year. It costs $5,034 this year, while it was $4,711 per student last year. This is still lower than the state average of $7,419. Meanwhile, it costs $8,305 per student to operate the school, which is up from $7,835 per student last year, but it is also well below the state cost of $12,521. The school was above the state levels in areas it needed to be and below in areas it needed to be for a very good report card and the Board was also pleased with it.
