The Washington County Board met yesterday and they approved of some contracts for county administrators.  First they approved of the Ambulance Administrator’s annual contract at $52,634 with much the same wording as last year’s, but also allows for John Felchlia to work as a paramedic if needed at $16.19 per hour.  The other approved contract is for the Zoning, Safety and EMA Administrator.  This position is broken into 3 parts with half of it being for Emergency Management, 35 percent for Zoning and 15 percent for Safety.  The salary for Rick Greten will now be at $52,634, so both of these contracts will be for the same amount from now on.  In other personnel moves, there were 3 re-appointments approved of.  Barbara Mills and Kevin Meyer for Washington County Board of Mental Health for 4-year terms and Mitch Burdick for Southwest Regional Planning Commission for a 3-year term.  The Board approved of the contract with Krehbiel & Associates for the county audit, but there will be a 3 percent increase, due to auditing of all the Courthouse renovation expenses, so the cost for the County will be $16,400 and an additional $1,500 for the Senior Services audit.  The Board will have to keep an eye on finances, as they are receiving less funding, due to the state budget impasse.  They have had to move some funds around to meet payroll and expect to do so again until they receive the next tax distribution to help.  They still receive money from Prairie State, but no longer receive any funds from land rights in the county from coal companies.  They also agreed to the next year’s worth of meetings, with a change from the 2nd Tuesday in November 2016 to the 3rd Tuesday, due to that being Election night, in which other offices would be busy that night.  The Board approved of a service and monitoring contract with Simplex & Grinnell for the fire safety system they installed in the ambulance building at $1,679 per year for 5 years.  Work is progressing on the inside and outside of the Courthouse and change orders are slowing down, but may not be finished, as anything is still possible until the entire project is completed.  The Board then went into closed session to discuss the bankruptcy of Image Architects during the renovation of the Courthouse, as well as to go over the contract with the Fraternal Order of Police union.
