The Washington County Sheriff’s Department assisted 1 motorist and responded to some accidents.  On Wednesday, they assisted the Illinois State Police with an accident on Interstate 64 at mile marker 47 and later assisted the ISP with an accident in Richview.  Finally, there was an accident on County Highway 16 near McKinley Road as Herbert Simmons of Coulterville was driving his motorcycle, when a deer entered into the roadway.  He swerved to avoid it, but lost control of the motorcycle, exited the roadway and overturned.  He was transported by family to Sparta Hospital for treatment of injuries.  On Thursday, they assisted with the tractor accident that claimed the life of David L. Paszkiewicz.  On Friday, deputies responded to an accident at the intersection of Route 127 and Route 177, as 31-year old Amy M. Murphy of Okawville, allegedly disobeyed a stop sign as she was going east on Route 177 and struck a semi-truck driven by 51-year old Timmothy Spenner of Nashville.  Murphy sustained injuries and was taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment, but was also cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign.  On Saturday, they responded to a vehicle stuck in the median on Interstate 64 near the Centralia exit.  Meanwhile, the Nashville Police responded to a fender bender on the Dairy Queen parking lot last Monday.  Then they assisted on an accident on Wednesday on Connecticut Road near Lebanon Road and assisted the ISP on the accident on I-64.  On Thursday, officers responded to South Mill Street at Masonic Drive for a fender bender and later went to Innertech about an accident on Tuesday involving 3-vehicles.  Trevor Williams of Pinckneyville reported that he was stopped in traffic, when a vehicle driven by Nora Rorie of Centralia allegedly rear-ended his vehicle, pushing it into the rear of a vehicle driven by Marilyn Koehler of Bartelso.  On Saturday, they assisted several agencies with an accident on I-64 at mile marker 55.  The driver was taken to Washington County Hospital, where was allegedly combative and intoxicated.
