The Nashville City Council met for the last time this year.  There was a tax levy hearing before the regular meeting as they are seeking a 9 percent increase over the amount levied last year for the Nashville Public Library.  Later in the regular meeting, the Council approved of Ordinance for this tax levy.  The Planning Commission met last week about Willowbrook Subdivision.  Andy Kirchner is the landowner and requested several lots be de-platted and part of Heather Drive be removed, as some of it is undeveloped and some neighbors are wanting to buy some of this land.  The Council approved of this request.  The new police K-9 Explorer unit is in and will be part of the fleet.  There is no change in trash pick-up for the 2 holiday weeks coming up, due to the fact that the holidays are on Fridays, when there is no trash pick-up.  The compost site will be closed at the end of the day on December 30th, but will be opening back up in April of 2016.  Christmas tree pick-up in Nashville will be on Mondays, January 4th and 11th as the trees will need to be at the curb by 7 AM.  The project to divert flood water from the front doors at Friendship Manor Nursing Home has been completed.  The Council accepted the bid of $146,900 from Quality Assured Industrial Coatings out of Alton for the preparing and painting of the water clarifiers at the water plant.  This project will begin after the New Year and could take up to 60 days.  There will be no disruption of service, as one clarifier will be in use while the other is being painted.  The city employees will clean the areas up afterwards to save money.  Bids were as high as $291,000.  The new one-armed mowing tractor was delivered to the city in the past week also, so it will be ready to go next season.  The Council also approved of renewing several insurance plans with some changes in pricing.  The total amount of approximately $180,000 for the year is for General Liability Insurance, which went up; EPLI, which remained the same; Commercial Auto, which went up slightly; Inland Marine, also up slightly; and Workers Compensation, which went down.  Mayor Raymond Kolweier thanked the Council for their work and getting the job done for the city this past year at the end of the meeting.
