Nashville Grade School Superintendent Mike Brink talked to the NGS Board of Education at their December meeting about upcoming laws or possible laws for 2016 that will affect them and other schools.  One deals with a new school recognition system, but little is known about it at this time, even if it will be implemented this coming year, says Brink.  Ultimately, when they do implement it, it will rate school districts as either exceeds, proficient, needs improvement or unsatisfactory.  It also includes some intervention in some of the lowest performing districts.  Rather than just focusing on test scores, it will be 70 percent on professional practice, looking at other things that are being done at the school, how they are being done, and what is being offered to the students and parents.  30 percent will be student performance and that is the same percentage as teacher evaluation for next school year.  Also, unknown is how this will affect funding for the upcoming school years.
