Updating a story from earlier this month, a 17-year old Centralia man who was wanted in connection with the December 13th armed robbery of the Dollar General Store in Central City has been apprehended after evading arrest for nearly two weeks. According to Central City Police Chief Jim Maloy, Oslo White was apprehended just before 1:30 Tuesday afternoon in a joint effort between Centralia and Wamac police. Maloy says White was found hiding on a shelf in a closet of an apartment in the 300 block of Cedar in Centralia. He was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and setting of bail. In addition to being arrested in connection with the armed robbery of the Dollar Store, Maloy says he is including a charge of aggravated assault due to White allegedly pointing his gun at a woman who was entering the store as he was fleeing and reportedly warning her against calling police. Officers with Centralia and Central City executed a search warrant earlier this month at White’s home in the 500 block of East Rexford in Centralia, where they recovered items they believe belong to White that place him at the robbery. White reportedly was not home at the time the search warrant was executed, but police sought the public’s help in locating him. According to Maloy, releasing the information to the public produced helpful information in locating and apprehending White.
