The Nashville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met yesterday and they agreed to fill the open spot on the Board with Karen Droeste.  She replaces Alana England, who was transferred from the Nashville Kroger to the Mount Vernon store for the next year or so and resigned.  The Board also approved of a raise for Director Doris Povolish.  She reported that she was working on several possible ribbon cutting ceremonies for new businesses or new owners of established businesses.  The membership drive is now on and there are currently 50 members with 8 new ones that have never been with the Chamber or were not a member last year.  Povolish also reported that the Shop Southern Illinois promotion is over and there were over 300 people that signed on to that website, pledging to shop local during the holidays.  There were several prizes given out and 4 residents of Washington County were winners.  Details are being put together for the Chicken & Beer Dance on February 27th.  The Volunteer of the Year Award is also coming up and will be on March 14th.  Nominations are now being accepted for this year’s award.  Submit them to the Chamber office with a letter on why the person is worthy of this award.  The nominees will be presented at the February General Membership meeting for a vote.  The next General Membership meeting will be on Wednesday, January 13th at Girolamo’s in Nashville at noon.
