The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police is encouraging all Illinoisans to “Take the LEAD” and observe FOP National Law Enforcement Day on Saturday. The FOP is offering suggestions on how to thank your local law enforcement, such as if you see a police officer, thank them personally; wear blue clothing or display a blue light at your home or business; send a card or letter of support to your local police department; “Like” your local police agency’s Facebook page or share a positive experience you’ve had with a police officer. “Law enforcement is usually a thankless job, but it doesn’t have to be,” Illinois FOP President Chris Southwood said. “On January 9th, let’s all make an effort to let these brave men and women know they are appreciated for what they do for us. A simple ‘thank you’ costs nothing and means a great deal.”
