The Nashville Public Works Department reminds residents that Monday is the last day they will pick up Christmas trees. All tinsel, ribbons, etc. must be removed from the trees. Trees must be set out before 7 AM and must be placed near the curb unless other arrangements are made. Superintendent Richard Schuette reports there is a problem of what to do with them though. They have lots of trees already this year and they usually take them out to the Washington County State Lake to sink them, as they are used by the fish, but they already have plenty of trees and are not taking any more, so if anyone has a pond or lake they would like trees sunk in, call the Public Works Department and they will make arrangements. Also, the City of Nashville will be suspending curb side collection of leaf bags after this coming Monday. Leaves must be in compostable paper bags and should be set out by 7 AM. If you would like to take leaves to the compost site, please contact the Department of Public Works at 327-8918. An attempt will be made to arrange access to the compost site, at a time convenient to the City. Regular twice-weekly collection will resume in the fall of 2016.
