The Nashville City Council met last night for a relatively short meeting. There were 296 residents that recycled 10.9 tons last month. That is up in both areas from November, when there were 260 residents that recycled 9.3 tons. The K-9 unit is out on the streets for patrol according to Police Chief Brian Fletcher. An agreement has been reached between the Nashville Municipal Golf Course and Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course that allows members from each to play the other course at no charge. There are some stipulations as to some days not being available due to other obligations. The Nashville – Washington County Enterprise Zone was approved of earlier in the Fall, but it did not become official until recently, when the State released nearly $2 billion in money to fund the approved zones. The local Board is made up of the Mayor, the Board Chairman and 3 members. Their terms are 3 years and one expires every year. City Clerk Joyce Sheridan’s term was expiring, but she offered to remain on the Enterprise Zone, so the Council approved of her for another 3 years. The other members are Rhett Renken and Terrie Kurwicki. Next the Council approved of funding the Enterprise Zone Board for $1,500 for the year. This is their half of the money needed to run the zone, as the County also provides $1,500. The painting on the water clarifiers at the water plant could begin next week, as the prep crew from Quality Assured Industrial Coatings is at the water plant this week to get everything set up. Again, this could take up to 60 days to paint both water clarifiers, but there will be no disruption to residents during this time.
