The Washington County Board met last night and they approved of a drainage project in the Oakdale Road District, as a pipe had to be replaced due to the recent storms.  Since it was an emergency, the work was done right away.  County Highway Engineer Mitch Burdick reported that the County weathered the recent rain and flooding well with some minor issues.  They have also been doing brush work and tree trimming with the decent weather.  There was an appointment made to the Nashville – Washington County Enterprise Zone Committee at the Nashville City Council meeting last week, but a new rule is that any appointments have to be ratified by both entities, so last night the County Board approved of the re-appointment of City Clerk Joyce Sheridan to the Enterprise Zone Committee.  Work is progressing on the Washington County Courthouse and everything is on the timeline for the move from the Nashville Community Center to the Courthouse to happen in late March.  They will probably keep a contract with the NCC through April, just in case it is needed.  The outside is virtually done, except for some tuck-pointing and landscaping.  There will be some minor painting also needed, but that will probably be done later in the season.  Furnishings have been purchased in the amount of just over $41,000 to date for the County Clerk’s, Treasurer’s and Assessor’s Offices, but that doesn’t include the County Boardroom and County Board Office, nor does it include any chairs what-so-ever.  The lights are on in the Courthouse, but the contractor is paying for that, as well as for the propane tank used to heat the building.  The union contract with the Fraternal Order of Police was agreed upon at a special meeting last week, and it was reported that all paperwork has now been signed, finalizing everything.
