World Youth in Science and Engineering or WYSE regional competition was held at Kaskaskia College yesterday.  Both Nashville and Okawville high schools competed.  The Nashville squad placed second in Division 700, for schools with enrollments of 300 to 700 students.   Nashville advances to sectional competition at McKendree University on Monday, March 14th.  For NCHS, Mackenzie Wells was 2nd in Biology, Lucas Morgan was 2nd in Chemistry, Brent Harris was 3rd in Computer Science, Caleb Hallock placed 2nd in Engineering Graphics, Ryan Kell was 3rd in Engineering Graphics, while John Schroeder placed 2nd in English and 1st in Mathematics.  In the scholarship competition, which is based on test scores in 2 subjects, Lucas Morgan placed 1st and was awarded a Kaskaskia College scholarship of 12 credit hours.  Okawville High School finished 1st in Division 300, for schools with enrollments up to 300.  Chance Mattingly was 1st in Computer Science, Logan Thoms placed 1st in Engineering Graphics, Jordan Oakley was 1st in English and 2nd in Chemistry, while Russell Rodely was 2nd in Biology and tied for 2nd in Chemistry, Fiona Winkel placed 2nd in English, Stephanie Friederich tied for 3rd in Chemistry and tied for 3rd in Math, while Jessie Klasing was 3rd in Physics and tied for 3rd in Math.
