The Nashville City Council met last night and Tom McFeron with the Washington County Sportsman’s Club made a presentation about the 43rd Annual Free Fishing Derby on May 1st. The City has made donations of $350 per year for several years to the event, as the money is used to purchase fish to stock the ponds at Memorial Park in Nashville. The Council approved of donating $350 again this year. The event will be from noon to 2 PM for children ages 5 through 14, both boys and girls. Last year there were 160 participants and prizes are handed out at the end. In a related request by McFeron, the Council approved of $500 for the purchase of fish for the city reservoir. It used to cost $400, but now there is a $100 delivery fee, so the new amount was approved, as it had been previously appropriated.
