Updating a story from last week, two days after 29-year old Marventi Palmer pleaded guilty to Second Degree murder in the 2010 shooting death of 15-year old Deon Feggins, warrants were issued for the arrests of two new suspects in that murder case, but one still remains at large, while one was taken into custody yesterday.  According to Jefferson County State’s Attorney Doug Hoffman, he filed First Degree murder charges against 37-year old Edward Gilbert, of Chicago, and 36-year old Dwaine McDonald, of DuQuoin for Feggins’ murder.  Hoffman says the charges allege that on August 8, 2010, Gilbert and McDonald shot and killed Feggins as he rode his bike on Conger Street in Mount Vernon.   McDonald, of DuQuoin, was taken into custody on Sunday.  He is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail.  Police continue to search for Gilbert.  Palmer, who was already serving a 20-year prison sentence on a drug related conviction, was sentenced this week to an additional 10-year sentence in prison for Feggins’ murder, but that sentence won’t begin until his current drug sentence is completed in 2022.
