The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 4 accidents and assisted a motorist in the past week.  There were a 3 on Friday with the first one on North Main Street in Hoyleton.  A vehicle driven by 19-year old Alyssa C. Pinkston of Patoka was traveling south on Main Street, when it went out of control, went off the road to the right and struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn.  There were no injuries and no mention of any citations issued.  The next accident was on Route 127 at Connecticut Road that resulted in minor injuries.  According to the report, a vehicle driven by 29-year old Joseph D. Beimfohr of Nashville, struck a vehicle driven by 18-year old Emily A. Stanowski of Nashville.  Beimfohr received minor injuries, but was also cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an accident and for Not Wearing a Seatbelt.  The third accident was in New Minden, as 41-year old James H. Funke of New Minden, ran his vehicle off the road and struck a ditch.  There were no injuries and no mention of any citations issued.  The other accident was on Sunday in rural Okawville, as 33-year old Zachary D. Boulware of Breese was thrown from a four-wheeler and was injured, but the report did not mention the severity of the injuries.  The Nashville Police Department responded to 4 accidents as well in the past couple of weeks.  One was on Friday, February 12th in the afternoon at the intersection of West Alton and South Grand Streets.  A vehicle driven by Judith Brown of Nashville was turning, but went too wide and struck a vehicle driven by Grace Antoine, also of Nashville, as her vehicle was coming to a stop.  There were no injuries and no mention of any citations.  Another accident was one week ago on the Interstate 64 off-ramp at Route 127 in the afternoon.  According to the report, a vehicle driven by 26-year old Tavaris Cottingham of Alabama, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 24-year old Rya Heady of Nashville.  There were no injuries, but Cottingham was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.  After smelling an odor of cannabis coming from that vehicle, officers conducted a search and arrested Cottingham for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis over 30 Grams, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was taken to the Washington County Jail and placed on a felony hold.  There was an accident on Saturday that involved a hit-and-run in the late morning in the Innertech parking lot.  There were no injuries.  The NPD also responded to the motorcycle accident on Route 15, west of Nashville on Saturday evening to assist with traffic, as the road was closed until the person was airlifted out.
