Besides responding to 5 accidents last week, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop last Tuesday on Interstate 64 at Highway 51 and issued citations to the driver, 43-year old Jason W. James of Centralia for Speeding and arrested him for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic Syringes. The passenger, 38-year old Nicole D. James of Centralia was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing Justice and Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic Syringes. They also assisted DCFS with an investigation in Wamac, responded to a residence in rural Richview for a welfare check, initiated a traffic stop and arrested 35-year old Jamie A. Peters of Centralia for Driving While License Suspended, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and also responded to a residence in Hoyleton in reference to a report of the theft of a 4-wheeler winch line and tow hitch ball. On Thursday, deputies took a report of disorderly conduct in Hoyleton and responded to another address in Hoyleton for a report of theft. On Friday, they took a report of identity theft from a resident of Hoyleton. On Saturday, the WCSD spoke to a resident of rural Centralia in reference to A.T.V.s trespassing on their property and returned a phone call to a resident of Ashley in regards to illegal dumping. On Sunday, they returned a phone call to a business owner in Hoyleton in reference to suspicious activity and assisted the Okawville Fire Department with a report of a fire near I-64.
