The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 5 accidents and assisted 1 motorist in the past week.  One week ago, there was a 2-vehicle accident on Sunflower Road, west of Tulip Avenue, as a vehicle driven by 80-year old Marlin D. Albert of New Athens was backing up to the east, when he hit a vehicle driven by 84-year old Andrew R. Lintker of Addieville.  There were no injuries and no citations issued.  On Wednesday, there was an accident on Highway 51 at Yard Road, as a vehicle driven by 39-year old Shawn S. Diehl of Centralia was going south, when Diehl lost control of the vehicle due to the slick weather conditions, causing it to go off the road and strike an embankment.  Again, no injuries or citations mentioned.  The 2nd of 3 accidents that day was on Route 127 at Enterprise Avenue, as a vehicle driven by 44-year old Amanda J. Basso of Texico went out of control and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 45-year old Stacie L. Barnett of Hoyleton.  There were minor injuries reported, but no mention of any citations.  The other accident was on Texas Road, just south of Route 15, as a vehicle driven by 18-year old Andrew P. Hiedel of Nashville went out of control and left the roadway, going into a field.  There were no injuries reported.  There was an accident on Thursday on Interstate 64 as 63-year old Michael Steinmann of Centralia lost control of the vehicle he was driving and struck a ditch.  There were no injuries reported and no citations issued.  The Nashville Police Department responded to a couple of accidents in the past week.  One was a week ago in the McDonald’s parking lot that was a fender bender.  The other accident was on Friday night on South Friendship Drive, as a vehicle driven by Merle Schuessler of Nashville hit a vehicle on the side of the road that belongs to Brittany Burcham.  There were no injuries reported or citations issued in either accident.
