The Memorial Park Board of Nashville met last night and they approved of spending money on various projects.  They approved of $19,698.73 to Ameren Illinois for their part in moving the power lines from overhead to below ground.  They required payment ahead of work, which will be done once J & R Appliances completes all of their work, but they can’t begin due to weather conditions.  The Board wants this work done before the spring really gets going and the ball diamonds are needed.  The other large project is work on the pool house.  Last month, they approved of $7,400 for some work by Matecki Masonry, but they approved of more last night.  The total is now $28,759 for work inside and outside the pool house says Fletcher.  It includes all 4 sides of the bath house, while the louvers will be blocked in using glass block, and in various places it will be split face block.  This will also include removing some concrete on the girl’s side of the pool side entrance.  The kiddie pool will be tuck-pointed and bad concrete will be cut out on the north side of the kiddie pool in a 2 foot by 2 foot section and any cracks throughout the building will be filled in.  This does not include electrical or plumbing work on the bath house.  There were 4 bids for the roofing work needed on the building and Mid State Construction and Roofing out of Beecher City had the winning bid of $33,683, which includes the vapor barrier.  The Lions Club says Little League ball will be bigger this year and they want to get a couple more tarps for ball diamonds 2 and 3.  They asked the Park Board if they could donate half of the cost.  The Board approved of donating up to $2,500 and having the Lions Club take care of the tarps.  In other news, the Board accepted the resignation of Becky Styninger, who has been on the Memorial Park Board since 2005.  She has been busy with her business and does not have the time needed to affectively serve on the Board anymore.  They will look to appoint someone in the coming months to take Styninger’s place for the remainder of her term.  The Board also approved of allowing the mill ponds to be used for the Fishing Derby on May 1st, as well as approving to purchase $250 of fish to stock the ponds.  This is something they do every year for the event.  The next meeting is back to a Tuesday on April 4th at 7 PM.
