The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was very busy in the past 2 weeks. Two weeks ago, they responded to U.S. Highway 51 near Irvington for a suspicious vehicle, went to a call of a custody dispute in rural Venedy, took a report of criminal damage to a wheat field in rural Oakdale and initiated a traffic stop that lead to the arrest of 34-year old Candace J. Hensley of Centralia for Driving While Suspended and issued a citation for Speeding, as well as verbal warnings for Expired Registration and For Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. On Wednesday, they took a report of theft from a rural Okawville resident, returned a phone call about a civil matter to a resident of rural Nashville and responded to a residence in rural Okawville about telephone harassment. On Thursday, deputies went to a report of suspicious activity in Richview, responded to a call about a reckless driver on Highway 51, south of Ashley, went to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 near mile marker 61 about a brush fire, got a report of an abandoned vehicle on Route 15, west of Township Line Road, responded to another abandoned vehicle on County Highway 10 and Washington County Line Road that had been left in the road and went to a business in rural Nashville for a report of suspicious activity. On Friday, they responded to a residence in Richview for a domestic disturbance, assisted the Illinois State Police on I-64 near mile marker 45 for a tractor-trailer truck on fire and there were no injuries, took a report of fraud occurring in rural Nashville and initiated a traffic stop on Route 177 that led to the arrest of 50-year old Dawn K. Walton of Centralia for Driving While License Revoked, as well as a citation for Speeding. On Saturday, the WCSD took a report of criminal damage to property in rural Oakdale, went to mile marker 54 on I-64 for a report of debris in the road and received a report of suspicious activity in Richview. On Sunday, they responded to rural Oakdale for criminal damage to a field, took a report of a stolen ATV from a residence in Addieville, responded to a noise complaint on the 800 block of Nashville Street in Okawville, went to a residence in Irvington for a criminal trespass to property, responded to the 200 block of South Croan Street in Irvington for a report of criminal trespass to property and initiated a traffic stop that resulted in 24-year old Zackary E. Weaver of Centralia being arrested for a Jefferson County warrant, as well as getting a citation for Speeding. Last Wednesday, they initiated a traffic stop and arrested 23-year old Anthony L. Blanchard of Saint Louis on a Saint Clair County warrant and issued him a citation for Speeding. On Thursday, deputies took a report of criminal trespass to a residence in Irvington and received a report of criminal damage to property in Ashley. On Friday, they responded to Route 15 near the Jefferson County Line about a possible DUI driver and got a report of suspicious activity in rural Addieville. On Saturday, the WCSD responded to the report of a possible fire on Route 127 near New Minden, but it was a controlled burn. On Sunday, they went Addieville for a report of neighborhood trouble and responded to Trinity Lutheran School in Hoyleton for suspicious activity.
