The Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to 3 accidents in the past week. One was a week ago at Routes 127 and 177, as a car driven by 64-year old Larry D. Gibson of Mount Vernon, struck the rear of a car driven by 32-year old Justin L. Hunt of Centralia. There were no injuries or citations issued. Another accident was on Wednesday on County Highway 17, as a vehicle driven by 27-year old Michael T. Dreas of Radom was going eastbound, when it went out of control due to the wet road conditions and struck a ditch. There was no mention of any injuries or citations. The third accident was on Thursday, as deputies assisted the Illinois State Police with an accident on Route 177, just north of Okawville. Meanwhile, the Nashville Police Department also responded to some accidents in the past week. On Wednesday, there was one in the afternoon on Route 127 at Exchange Avenue, as a vehicle driven by James Lang of Nashville struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Amy Rees of Nashville. Both of them were taken to Washington County Hospital to be checked for injuries, but there was no mention of any citations being issued. There was a fender bender on the 600 block of West High Street on Thursday. On Sunday, there was an accident involving a deer on Route 127, just south of Richview Road. A vehicle driven by 71-year old Raymond Caplinger of Hoyleton was traveling northbound on Route 127, when a deer ran into the side of his vehicle. There were no injuries reported.
