Strong thunderstorms that rolled through the area Saturday left damage and power outages in their wake, as trees and limbs were brought down by straight-line winds, power lines were often brought down as well, resulting in thousands of Ameren and Tri-County electric customers losing power for hours as crews battled weather and blocked roads to restore service.  Some customers in Marion, Jefferson and Clinton counties remained in the dark Sunday.  Police and firefighters throughout the region responded throughout the night to reports of roads blocked by trees and power lines, as well as damaged roofs, sheds and porches, including in Washington County.  In Clinton County, significant damage was reported at the Coles Creek and Boulder recreation areas at Carlyle Lake, with one camper tossed onto its side.  The owner reports there were no injuries, but the camper was significantly damaged.
