Area law enforcement had an eventful week handling accidents last week, including three incidents last Monday. Nashville police handled a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Gorman and South Mill where a vehicle driven by Kailee Remer of Oakdale rear-ended a vehicle driven by Tawny Kurtz of Nashville. No injuries were reported. Also on Monday, Nashville police responded to State Route 127 just north of Holzhauer’s after John Kohnen of Aviston hit a deer. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also took a report that Angela Hewitt of Red Bud struck a dog with her vehicle on State Route 15 near Nashville. On Tuesday, Nashville police handled a two-vehicle non-injury accident in Nascote Industries where a vehicle driven by Steven Cook of DuQuoin backed into a vehicle driven by Timothy McDaniel of Oakdale. Wednesday saw a Nashville officer check on reports of a field fire off State Route 127. Upon arrival, police discovered that the fire was a controlled burn, and the call to the Nashville Fire Department was cancelled. A non-injury accident was handled on Thursday at Dairy Queen where Thomas Sabo Jr of Hoyleton rear ended a vehicle driven by Morgan Fox of Oakdale. On Friday, Nashville Police handled a three-vehicle accident on North Mill Street near East First Street. A vehicle driven by Angelyn Fernandez of Nashville rear-ended a vehicle driven by Christopher Bergmann of Nashville, whose vehicle was pushed into the rear of a vehicle driven by Hunter Schultze of Ashley. There were no injuries were reported. A sheriff’s deputy handled another deer-related accident Saturday when a vehicle driven by Jessica Eldridge of Venedy struck a deer causing minor damage to her vehicle by no injuries. On Monday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle accident in Addieville in which Zachary Setzekorn of Nashville was traveling east on First Street and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. There were no injuries and not citations issued, but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
