Students and faculty at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville walked out of classes yesterday to protest racism and call for unity. According to posts on an SIUE social media, there have allegedly been several instances of racism and xenophobia on campus since last week’s election. Reports allege that several racist notes were left on students’ doors, including calls to “Build a Wall” and “Go Back to Africa.” Another report said that a Muslim student’s hijab was pulled off by a passing student. SIUE police say they have not received reports of these incidents.
