The Irvington Grade School board met Tuesday night and discussed the proposed one percent county facilities tax. Superintendent Dave Schulte said an informational meeting is planned next month.
“We talked a little bit about the one percent county facilities tax,” Schulte said. “There’s a meeting coming up on January 11 at Nashville High School with the Washington County superintendents and Mark Wills from First Mid-State to talk about the facilities tax, and if the boards want to approve it and put it on the ballot in the spring.”
The board also held a truth in taxation hearing prior to the meeting and approved the tax levy for the next year. Schulte said the meeting was a result of new properties coming into the district.
“We have new properties that have annexed into our district, and that’s really increased our EAV, so on our tax levy we had to have a Truth in Taxation hearing,” he said.
“They did approve that at the public hearing.”
In other business, the board approved the school report card for the 2015-16 school year and heard the first reading of the school board policy updates. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, January 17.
