Nancy M. Newby, CEO of Washington County Hospital & Medical Group, has been elected to the Illinois Health and Hospital Association’s (IHA’s) 2017 Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is the policymaking body for the Association, which represents more than 200 hospitals and nearly 50 health systems across Illinois. Newby, who has 47 years of hospital nursing and administration experience, has been active on the IHA Board since 2003. She most recently served on IHA’s Board of Trustees, the Small and Rural Models Work Group of the Transforming Illinois Health Care Task Force, Small and Rural Legislative Committee, and The Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality Advisory Board. Newby is an American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) fellow and is a past Chair of the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN); Board member of the American Cancer Society of Southern Illinois and serves on the Washington County Relay for Life committee and Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Newby holds a master’s degree in nursing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a doctorate degree in nursing from Saint Louis University.
