The Washington County Sheriff’s Office handled reports on several accidents during the last week, starting last Tuesday when a deputy responded to a single-vehicle accident on County Highway 27 at County Highway 1. A vehicle driven by Mitchell Engele of Nashville ran off the roadway and caused damage to his vehicle. No injuries were reported. Friday saw a deputy handle an accident on Black Diamond Road where a Ford Ranger left the road and struck a guide wire before leaving the scene. Taylor Prange of Nashville was issued a citation for failure to report accident to police authority. On New Year’s Eve, a deputy responded to a report of a single vehicle accident on Interstate 64 near mile marker 44. Nashville Fire Department and Washington County Ambulance also responded, and Illinois State Police handled the accident report. The sheriff’s office also took a report of an abandoned vehicle on Nebraska Road on Wednesday, and Sheriff Danny Bradac performed a motorist assist on US Highway 51 just North of St. Rt. 15 where he found a vehicle unoccupied and off the roadway.
