It was a light agenda at the Nashville City Council meeting last Thursday night. In one of only two action items, the council voted to sell the city’s road grader at the next farm auction. According to Mayor Ray Kolweier, the grader is very rarely used and takes some work to get going on the rare occasions it is used.

“The old road grader we have sitting out there that we use so little, and anytime we do use it you have to spend some time getting it ready,” Kolweier said. “I suggested the possibility of getting rid of it, and my thought on it is that Riechmann’s has that farm auction over in Okawville, which draws a big bunch of people, and I think it does pretty well.”
The council approved a motion to add the grader to the auction, which is to be held in March in Okawville. In the only other action item on the agenda, the council approved a proclamation in support of School Choice Week set for January 22 through 28. Councilman Terry Kozuszek reported that 253 residents used the recycling service in December and recycled almost seven tons of materials. Streets Superintendent Rich Schuette announced that the new Freightliner Packer truck had been delivered, and that work will begin on repairing the old packer truck this week. Coucilwoman Sue Finke reported that a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting will be held January 26 at 7 p.m., and Dennis Kellerman said that a meeting of the Gas Committee will be scheduled later this month. The next meeting will be held January 19.
