Washington County coroner Mark Styninger released a coroner’s report for 2016. According to the report, the coroner’s office received a total of 131 calls in the year with 38 calls investigated by coroner or deputy coroner. There were 111 natural deaths, 13 accidental deaths, four suicides, one death of undetermined causes, and two death notifications to outside agencies. These totals do not reflect deaths of individuals who were injured in Washington County but died after being transported to a hospital in another county or state. In addition, three autopsies were performed, nine toxicology tests were done, and 43 cremation permits issued.
