The Kaskaskia Special Education District and school districts in Washington County will hold free screening clinics for children up to five years old. These clinics check speech and development along with vision and hear screenings. These screenings take around 30 minutes and will help determine eligibility for prekindergarten programs offered by school districts. The first screening in the county will by Thursday, March 16 at St. Barbara’s Parish Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oakdale Grade School will host a screening on Monday, March 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. In April, Nashville Grade School will host screenings on Thursday, April 6 from noon to 7 p.m. and again on April 7 from 8 a.m. to noon. Irvington and Ashley Grade Schools will be the site of screenings on Tuesday, April 25 at 9 to 11 a.m. at Irvington and from 1 to 4 p.m. at Ashley.
