A traffic stop last Tuesday resulted in charges for a Murphysboro woman. According to the report, a Nashville police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle was conducted after the officer detected an odor of cannabis. During the search, the officer observed a bag fall out of the pocket of the passenger in the vehicle, identified as Charlene Beard, and she was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and issued a civil citation for unlawful possession of cannabis. The driver of the vehicle, Darren Beard II, was issued a verbal warning for an obstructed windshield. Charlene Beard was taken to the Washington County Jail and placed on felony hold.
