Five arrests were made over the weekend by Nashville Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, a traffic stop by a Nashville officer resulted in drug arrests for two Carbondale residents. During the traffic stop, Nashville’s K-9 unit alerted police to the presence of narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle. Brandon Brooks was taken into custody on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. He was also issued a citation for speeding. The passenger in the vehicle, Acacia Watson, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (that being a loaded handgun), unlawful possession of a firearm, and illegal transportation of alcohol. Both subjects were taken to the Washington County Jail and placed on felony hold. Also on Saturday, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Francisco Abatos-Hurtado of Centralia for no valid driver’s license and operating uninsured motor vehicle. Nashville police made two more arrests on Sunday. Erik Mays of Convington was taken to the Washington County Jail after being issued citations for failing to wear a seatbelt, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving while license suspended. On Sunday night, Nashville police arrested Eric Keck of Bluford for driving while license revoked and for possession of a counterfeit Illinois license plate. He was take to the Washington County Jail without incident.
