Illinois and its 1st Lady Diana Rauner launched a newborn support program on Monday.  The pilot home-visit program is called Illinois Family Connect and it is going to be available for families who have new babies.  The program will allow parents of newborns a home visit, where they will get information, support and resources that can help their children thrive in society.  This pilot program will start off at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport and see how it goes.  It will give families free support services, which includes house calls from community nurses and wellness checks regularly.  The program is funded through federal and state grants and comes from a task force that was co-chaired by 1st Lady Diana Rauner and a public-private partnership.
