Two crashed occurred in Randolph County yesterday morning. The 1st one was a single-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 1-55 at Pioneer Lane. 29-year-old Kendra Bieber from Prairie De Roche, IL was heading eastbound on 1-55, when she lost control of her vehicle after attempting to put on her breaks. Her 2008 Ford Focus then went across the 2-lane highway and into oncoming traffic, striking a guard rail and left the roadway. The vehicle continued to roll onto the back side of the guard rail and into a small creek until it finally came to rest. After the vehicle was removed from the scene, Bieber was cited for Improper Lane Usage and taken to the hospital. She suffered minor injuries on the case. Another single-vehicle crash occurred yesterday morning just before 10am, this time it was on Randolph County Line Road, which was just 3/10th of a mile west of Unna Lane. 25-year-old Malori Thompson of Marissa was heading eastbound, when it is believed that she fell asleep at the wheel. With her right-side tired on the right side of the shoulder, she continued for 60 feet before striking the end of a bridge abutment. Thompson then had to be extracted from the vehicle by Marissa Fire Department crews. Thompson was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and suffered minor injuries in the incident.
