The Washington County Board met for their monthly meeting last night.  The 1st item of business is the open position on the board, with Terri Kurwicki resigning her position.  She served 8 and ½ years on the board and elected to resign after being elected as the new city clerk for Nashville.  The highway department, according to the agenda, addressed erosion is starting to occur on some roadways, due to the 9 to 10 inches of rain our area got.  Also, 18 bridge inspections are expected to be conducted, but possibly 10 more could be added to that number.  Some culvert replacements are expected sometime this month too.  The county had just over $76,200 in claims, which is a usual estimate and regular in business.  The State’s Attorney’s Monthly Report was given, by state attorney Daniel Bronke.  He spoke how the county seized and forfeited 4 vehicles, over $4,200 in cash, 2 guns, grass knuckles and a shot gun.  Based off of this money, the state gets 60 percent of everything seized, while the 40 percent is split between the Nashville and Okawville Police Departments.  The focus on the department is to capture vehicles that the drug dealers are using and so that users cannot get their drugs.  85-percent of drug users start off with prescription drugs and 95-percent of those users move on to more dangerous types.  The County Clerk and Recorder’s office mentioned that voter registration cards are going to be sent through the mail.  Joseph Meyers Company got approved last night to help the county sell properties.  The county saw 81 parcels that had no bids.  The company will work for free and not charge anything, until the properties are sold.  94 of the 102 counties in our state use Joseph Meyers to sell land.  The only two counties in our area who doesn’t, was Washington and Clinton Counties.  They make their wage by getting fees and interest in taxes, after the properties are sold.  There will be roughly 2 and ½ years until there are any results.  The board approved two zoning cases, which included Adam Hass wanting to build on 3-acres of land and Tina Mullinex, who wants to have a home with a poll on 2-acres of farmland.  The IPMG Wellness Program got approved.  This program would charge the county $50 per person, which is strictly volunteer for employees, and would provide health fairs and visits for regular check-ups.  The Insurance committee would be directly responsible for this program to assure that it keeps helping.  Two personnel for the Washington County Board of Reviews were approved.  That was Gary Reynolds and Jim Weeke, who got approved for a 2-year term.  Also, Marvin Haake got approved for reappointment through May 31st 2018.  David Niermann, who still has to wait 30 days for a review period, will be up for approval next month to be the next member of the Washington County Hospital Board.  FGM Architect was approved by the board and the building committee to become the Architect Director.  All that means is that the county has an “on-call” architect company.  Spyglass got approved too in regard to telecommunications.  The board elected to approve this to try and reduce costs in telecommunications in regard to bills and usage.  They will check overcharging by the company and ask that they get paid for all the savings they find in the 1st year.  The Spyglass also allows them to check calls and receiver usage over the last 4 years.  The meeting lasted just over an hour.  The next meeting is set for Tuesday June 13th
