The Illinois Department of Public Health is alerting Illinois residents that the FDA and Centers Disease Control and Prevention, are warning the public that a certain type of lead tests made by Magellan Diagnostics could give an inaccurate result.  This warning has been issued, due to tests that take blood from a child or adult could show numbers that are lower than what is actually in the blood.  The CDC recommends that children younger than 6-years-old, pregnant women and nursing mothers, who have been tested for lead, see their local doctor about possibly being retested for lead exposure.  The IDPH lead program wants to alert health care professionals about the possible inaccurate results.
