Southern Illinois University in Carbondale has named 2 additional candidates that are in the running for chancellor. They include Rodney Scott Hanley and Carlo Montemagno. Hanley is a provost and the vice president of academic affairs at Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Montemagno is a professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton Canada and teaches engineering, chemical and materials engineering. Along with that, he is the founding director of the Ingenuity Lab for the Province of Alberta. SIU System President Randy Dunn made the announcement on Tuesday that he elected to add these two candidates in the mix. He and the other board members tabled the agenda item of a new chancellor at SIU in Carbondale after having the discussion for 3 hours. Other 2 candidates include current Interim Chancellor at SIU Carbondale Brad Colwell and George Hynd, who is the president of Oakland University in Michigan. Carl Pinkert, who is the vice president of research and economic development at Alabama University, decided to remove his name as a finalist. Colwell and Hynd have already had their campus visits in April. Hanley and Montemagno will need to do that on a later date. All four are still going to be personally interviewed by the SIU board before a decision is made on the position of chancellor.
