A 2-vehicle crash occurred in Williamson County this last Thursday along interstate 57, with a passenger receiving major injuries. 26-year-old Raghurbir Singh of California was driving a 2013 Volvo semi and a 5-axle box combination who was behind a 2008 Cadillac Escalade driven by 47-year-old Robert Matheis of House Springs Missouri. Preliminary investigations report that the Cadillac, which was in front of the Singh and his Volvo, began to slow down due to the traffic ahead of him. The Volvo did not slowdown in time and rear-ended into Matheis’ Cadillac and cause his vehicle to spin and come to a rest in the median. The Volvo eventually came to a rest in the right-hand shoulder and that right lane. 45-year-old Christina Matheis, the passenger of the Cadillac, got extracted from the vehicle. She needed to be airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital to help treat her major injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and caused southbound I-57 to be reduced a by a lane for 2 hours. Singh got charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, using unsafe tires and improper lane usage.
