This last Friday, Coach Tomas Taylor and the boy’s track and field team were crowned as champions in the Sparta Sectionals with 127 points.  Wesclin got 2^nd with 84 points and Chester 3^rd with 56.  Nashville will be heading to state in 8 categories.  Junior Brandon Schnitker will be heading to state in 2 categories.  He got 1^st in the 800 and 1600-meter run.  Ethan Reid got 2^nd in the long jump.  2^nd in the high jump was Tabor Kozuszek.  Caleb Zgonina 2^nd in the 800-meter run.  Getting 1^st in the 400-meter dash was Derryn Holmes.  Nashville had 2 relay teams that got 1^st a piece.  The 4 by 8 and 4 by 4 teams will head to state after crushing the competition.  Okawville will have one heading to state.  Senior Tyler Traub got 2^nd in the triple jump.  State Prelims will be this upcoming Thursday.  This last Saturday, Okawville and their 4 by 8 team in girl’s track got 6^th at State.  They lost by 16-seconds to 1^st place finisher Deer Creek in Mackinaw.  That team consisted of Mallory Unverferht, Abbigail Riechmann, Madison Hackstadt and Madelyn Tepe.  They got 54^th overall with those 4 points they received.  Chicago Lutheran North got 1^st with 59 points, Warrensburg 2^nd and St. Joseph Ogden 3^rd.  DuQuoin finished in 7^th, Chester 20^th and Wesclin 67^th.
