The Senate in Illinois has passed a measure and advanced it to allow permanent term limits for all four state legislative leaders.  During the 100th General Assembly in January, Senate leaders adopted a new rule to put term limits for legislative leaders in the Senate for the 1st time.  The Senate President and the Minority Leader now have a maximum of 5 terms or 10 years.  The Constitutional Amendment now limits the Illinois Speaker of the House, President of the Senate, House Minority Leader and Senate Minority Leader for 5 General Assemblies or 10 years in total.  The measure advanced on Friday.  The Senate and House needs to have 3/5 of an approval to be put on the November 2018 ballot in Illinois.
