Nashville Community High School and their board met last night at 6pm in the Media Center.  7 items were approved in new business after the Hornet football team had some of their players speak in front of the board.  The 5 players, spear-headed by Senior Kyler Klingenberg, spoke to the board about who they believe the new football coach should be.  Kyle wanted to let the board know how important he and the other players felt that Steven Kozuszek, the current offensive coordinator for Nashville, should be in line for the head coaching position.  He spoke how highly they felt about Tim Kuhn and how it would be an easy transition for Coach Kozuszek to implement the same mindset as Kuhn.  In new business, the tentative budget for 2016-17 was approved.  Superintendent Ernie Fowler mentioned that the school was projected to spend $420,000, but they are only at $339,000 with one month left.  That projection also included a projected $23,000 worth of revenue, which was never received from the state.  Right now, Nashville High School is owed $55,000.  The biggest problem that the school is facing is their transportation costs.  They are in the red by $160,000 and owed by the state of over $171,000.  The school was only projected to have $81,000 in transportation, as they are well over the projected budget.  The 2nd reading and adoption of the IASB recommendation policies were approved.  The student handbook for 2017-18 was approved of having additions, which was recommended by IPA.  The out-of-state field trip of the NCHS band was approved last night.  The band will be heading to Busch Stadium and play the national anthem of May 30th, with the boosters paying for the bus service and the driver.  The Title 1 plan was approved, so Fowler can now consult with a representative with IASB.  A waiver for schoolwide programming of federal programs was approved.  This give the school more flexibility with grant money and could affect certain classes.  The last item approved was the school wide plan, which is similar to Title 1, and needs to be submitted and approved by the state board.  One item was tabled last night.  That was the athletic participation policy.  This was done because the school is having new coaches and a new athletic director working now together.  They want to not have a policy just yet, because the board is hoping that coaches will not have any schedule conflicts with high school resources throughout the summer and school year.  This item can always be brought back up at a different time.  The board went into a closed session at 620 and was in session for 2 hours and 20 minutes.  At 840, the board went back into open session.  The bookkeeper position was reclassified as an administrative assistant and a district bookkeeper.  Pam Kellerman was accepted to stay as the freshman volleyball coach.  Justine Lamke got approved to become the new assistant cheer coach.  The new nurse for the 2017-2018 school year will be Tiffany Lehde.  Lastly, all the spring coaching staff were approved for next year.  That includes baseball head coach Chad Malawy, JV coach Dan Blazier and volunteers Steven Kozuszek and Matt Meinert.  Softball will remain the same staff.  Shaun Renth as head coach, Brock Wuebbles as JV coach, volunteer assistants of Charlie Heck, Breanne Pelker and Hannah Young.  Head coach Tom Taylor and assistant Doug Kell will remain coaches for Boys Track.  In Girls track, Head coach Jason Alli with volunteer assistants in Dave Fischer, Charlie Hatch and Jessica Spenner.  For swimming, coaches Larry Jukes and Susan Rutledge-Jukes were approved.  The board has a special meeting on Wednesday May 24th with the discussion of Boys basketball and Football head coaching positions being discussed.  The next monthly meeting will be on June 26th
