A bill in the Illinois General Assembly, which would allow hemp to be grown legally inside of the state, could mark a major shift towards medical marijuana growers, if approved. Ross Morreale, the Medical Cannabis Alliance of Illinois Chairman, stated that the pending legislation would help growers for medical marijuana, by increasing their relatively small poll of 25,000 certified users in the general public. Bill advocates say that this could also address a lack of regulation of hemp, by subjecting the plant to the same potency and pesticides as medical marijuana in Illinois. Hemp-based products includes e-cigarettes and massage oils, which are used to help soothe ailments, such as insomnia and inflammation. These are products that can be bought and sold inside of Illinois.
